In today's CTS tutorial, we were given a 'surprise' task to do: take turns in linking ideas in every box in the paper given. In the process, there are parts when we need to draw and there are parts we need to write only. It was fascinating to see how ideas differ from everyone and amazed by how they connect the ideas together no matter it is logical or not haha! After all the blanks were filled in, we were given another paper to brainstorm the next level.
On the next page, those are some lecture notes from Mr.Charles and Mr. Choy: 'synectics' is bringing different things into unified connection. Secondly, combination of ideas to create a new idea is equivalent to innovation and originality because new inventions are derived from old existing ideas into better improvements to suit our needs from time to time.
The word in the first box and the word in the last box has to be combined to form a new phrase or idea. As seen in the picture on the left, the words that I have to combine were sushi and faith. When Ms. Fu first told me about the next move, this combination totally gave me headache because they certainly not fit together but perhaps this was what Creative Thinking Skills was all about! After hearing some advice from Ms. Fu, I came up with an idea: Sushi God. Why did I form this phrase? In my opinion, sushi represents food and God worshiping means we have faith in God and we trust Him. In addition, we as human beings cannot live without food, that's why food is like our God because both of them are our necessity in life. In another box, we must use the word in the last box to join with any word written in the first paper. As you can see, I chose 'faith' and 'life' because they are of the essence to ensure happiness in the long run. A close family bond is formed only through undisputed loyalty, selflessness and the faith between one another.
